Dr. Mohd Afzanizam Abdul Rashid is the Chief Economist with extensive experience in financial and macroeconomic analysis across varied institutional settings. Currently attached to Bank Muamalat Malaysia Berhad, he has proven the ability to generate strategic insights and forecasts that support informed decision-making by senior management, board members, and key stakeholders. Prior to this, he held key leadership roles at major institutions including EPF, Bank Islam, Khazanah Nasional, KWAP, Malaysian Rating Corporation Berhad (MARC) and Alliance Merchant Bank Berhad, thus contributing to national economic discourse and investment strategies.

He holds a PhD in Economics from UKM, specialising in income inequality and household debt. Dr. Afzanizam has authored academic publications on household finance, banking resilience, and digital transformation in agriculture, and is a frequent commentator in the media on economic issues. He also plays a significant role in academia, serving as an Adjunct Professor at UiTM and an advisor to several universities and national bodies. He is also an economic advisor to the Parliament Select Committee on Economics and Finance.

A recognized expert in Malaysia’s economic landscape, Dr. Afzanizam continues to influence policy, business strategy, and public understanding of economic affairs.
